Lillian Zarrelli Ryals
Senior Vice President, MITRE Corporation
General Manager, Center for Advanced Aviation System Development
Welcome to the Center for Advanced Aviation System Development
(CAASD) at the MITRE Corporation. CAASD has played an instrumental
role in the development of aviation since 1959, and we are proud
to continue to help the national and world-wide aviation systems
keep pace with the growing demands of air commerce.
As the federally-funded research and development center for the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), CAASD is dedicated to improving
aviation system safety, security, and performance. In addition to
the FAA, our customers include other government organizations (e.g.,
TDA) and international clients. CAASD also conducts collaborative
research with industry. Ultimately, we serve the aviation community
around the world.
CAASD is a world-class research, engineering, and development center.
Our laboratories combine the newest information technology with
systems engineering, modeling, and simulation to produce results
that are both operationally viable and award winning. The work of
our technical staff can be seen in a variety of settings -- at conferences,
in journals and books, and on numerous patents. Our most significant
achievements are the systems operating in the field that have resulted
from our collaboration and technology transfer to private industry
and air traffic management organizations around the world.
Progress in aviation is built on collaboration, engineering, ingenuity,
and innovation. These are principles we cherish and that serve as
the foundation of our work.
